1. Feel Free to Have Someone Accompany You to Your Breast Augmentation Consultations
As the patient, you may not remember everything said during your consultation. If you bring a friend or relative with you, the amount of information obtained generally increases. In addition, if the individual accompanying you knows what you want, he/she offers another set of eyes to help you in the decision making process.
2. There Are Several Styles of Breast Implants
While you may think that all breast implants are identical, this is not the case. There are low, moderate and high profile breast implants available. As implants progress from low to high profile styles, projection is increased and the diameter of the base decreases.
There are shaped (also referred to as teardrop, contoured or anatomic) and round implants available in every profile type. Shaped implants are ideal for individuals who are looking to achieve a very natural appearance.
3. When Choosing Your Breast Implants, Consider More than Just Cup Size
Once you decide that you want breast implants, you need to determine the size and breast implant style that will accomplish the look you desire, yet look natural. The cup size should be one of your determining factor. Keep in mind that bra manufacturers size their products differently. One brand may size you as a 36 C, while another places you in a 34 D. As long as you are happy with the way you look after your breast implant procedure, bra size does not matter.
4. Keep Social Perception and Your Personality in Mind When Choosing Your Breast Implant Size
Whether you are quiet and shy or an expressive individual, choosing the correct breast implant size can maintain your personality, as well as your social perception. Larger breast implants that are less proportionate with your body type may be fine for some professions; whereas, other professions require proportionate breasts that enhance the way your clothing fits.
5. Know Your Body
Although it may be difficult, you should stand in front of a mirror and look at your body. This will help you get to know and appreciate it. This also gives you the ability to select the best implant size for your body type.
When deciding on a breast implant size, you need to consider several things:
- Your Body Frame
- Width of Your Buttock
- Height
- Current Breast Volume
- Weight
- Width of Your Hips and Shoulders
To maintain proper proportions, as the size of each of these areas increases (except current breast volume), a larger breast implant is needed. For instance, a smaller woman (5’ 4”, 115 lbs) will need a smaller implant than a larger sized woman (5’ 9”, 140 lbs) will.
6. Keep Your Fitness Routine in Mind When Choosing the Size of Your Breast Implants
If you lead an athletic lifestyle, keep this in mind when choosing your breast implant size. If you bike, run, regularly perform any sport or frequently visit the gym for a strenuous workout, you should choose a size that allows you to continue this lifestyle without causing you discomfort.
