According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the most requested surgical procedures in 2012 were the surgeries included in the mommy makeover. During your initial consultation, discuss your cosmetic concerns with Dr. Roudner. He has the experience and knowledge to help you decide which procedures will accomplish what you desire.
Some of the procedures included in the mommy makeover surgery are Liposuction (Used to slim down particular body areas), Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation (A breast lift raises the position of your breasts and an augmentation restores volume to your breasts with silicone or saline implants), and a Tummy Tuck (Removes extra skin from your abdomen and tightens your abdominal muscles).
1) Be sure you have completed your family
If you intend to become pregnant, you should wait to have your mommy makeover until you have completed your family. A future pregnancy may have negative effects on the procedures Dr. Roudner performs during your mommy makeover.
You should wait at least a year after giving birth to your last child to have your mommy makeover. Once you make the decision to have a mommy makeover, you need to prepare for your transformation.
The best candidates for a “mommy makeover” are women who do not plan to have any more children and would like to improve the “problem areas” that exercise, healthy diet and active lifestyle are not able to address.
2) If you have diabetes, it must be managed
Whenever you have any type of surgery, including your mommy makeover, being as healthy as possible is essential. If you have diabetes, you must have it under control prior to your surgery. Ideally, Dr. Roudner likes his diabetic patients to be within their normal weight range and not insulin-dependent.
When blood sugar is not controlled, the tiny blood vessels responsible for feeding your skin may become damaged. This can make healing difficult and increase the possibility of infection. Not only that, sugar-packed environments are perfect for bacteria growth. The stress of surgery alone will most likely increase your blood sugar, raising your risk of infection.

3) Stop smoking before your mommy makeover
You need to stop smoking at least one month before your mommy makeover surgery. Smoking may cause problems during your mommy makeover procedure because it reduces the amount of oxygen delivered to your cells. This happens because smoking causes your blood vessels to constrict (narrow). This lack of oxygen makes it difficult for your body to heal after your mommy makeover and could cause you to mend poorly or scar.
If you plan to resume smoking, you cannot start smoking again until you have completed the recovery process for your mommy makeover. Discuss any medical conditions with Dr. Roudner at your initial consultation for your mommy makeover.
Naturally, when Dr. Roudner is doing a breast lift during a mommy makeover, there is a lack of blood supply to the breasts. If you smoke, the blood supply to your breasts is inhibited even more. Also, if you continue to smoke and have your nipples lifted during your mommy makeover, you may lose skin or feeling in them.
